Ellis Wilkins "Jim" Britt, 78, passed away early Monday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, surrounded by his family. Ellis is survived by a daughter, Wanda Oates and her husband, Martin of Faison; four sons, Vernon Britt and wife Jennifer, Jerry Britt and wife Gina, Keith Britt and wife Christina, and Ryan Myers, all of Mount Olive; two sisters, Edna E. Sutton and her husband Odis of Faison, and Francis Thornton of Mount Olive; a brother, W. L. Britt and his wife Edith, of LaGrange. Six grandchildren; Michelle B. Hope and her husband Brian, Lydia Britt, Austin Britt, Sabrina Britt, Isaac Britt, and Daniel Britt; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Hope, and Naomi Stoneburner. Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents; Theodore R. and Ludy Jernigan Britt; a grandson, Andrew Britt, and his former wife, Shelvy J. Britt Perry.
Ellis attended Manly Grove Church, and also volunteered with the Suttontown EMS in years past.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at 6 o'clock in the evening, from the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. Pastor Tony Ward will officiate the service, with the family receiving friends immediately following the funeral, and at other times at the home of Wanda and Martin Oates in Faison.
Burial will be held on Wednesday morning, at 11 o'clock, at Wayne Memorial Park, in Dudley.
